Hakeem Jeffries holds out an olive branch to “traditional Republicans,” pledging a way forward for a bipartisan coalition government.
“Congress is in the midst of a Republican civil war that undermines our ability to make life more affordable for American taxpayers, to keep communities safe and to strengthen democracy. Traditional Republicans need to break with the MAGA extremism that has poisoned the House of Representatives since the violent insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021…”
Note: Jeffries needs only a handful of Republicans votes to become the next speaker in a government of national unity.

@b541bfe5 Me: “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
Them: no not like that either

@b541bfe5 Ah. Well, with luck it will go the same way that the former trend of using postal codes went. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I understand that secret names are a great way to build social identity solidarity within an in-group.
@9dbd701e@b541bfe5 I loved my long hair until it started to thin out and get sticks caught in my ponytail while working in the woods. So I bought a trimmer, buzzed it all off, and now think back fondly on the days when I had long, wavy hair.
@868b3aad I went from a very active lifestyle to nearly completely sedentary due to #LongCovid. When I die of a heart attack, my death will be deemed to have been cardiac related due to a sedentary lifestyle, but the ultimate cause is post-viral syndrome from infection by SARS-CoV2.
