Software engineers should be required to regularly test their app on a network connection throttled to dialup speeds.
[Sent from a single bar 3G connection in the middle of nowhere.]
MTGOX is finally going to return funds to customers over a DECADE after declaring bankruptcy.
That means a non-negligible number of people have literally died while waiting to get their bitcoin back.
Think twice before leaving your coins in someone else's hands...
I've been on a crappy mobile connection while traveling and have been more mindful of bandwidth usage. I've noticed the following:
Nostr seems to use an order of magnitude more bandwidth than X, despite me spending far more screen time on X.
I suspect this is because X controls the delivery of multimedia content and thus ensures it's downsampled and optimally compressed for mobile app rendering.
Whereas nostr media is hosted and delivered at the original raw file size at which it was uploaded.
I'd think the solution would require media servers to accept additional parameters regarding screen size so that they can deliver optimized file sizes.
We should stop making fun of Google's AI for occasional inaccuracies. In general it's been a highly reliable source of quality information ever since it was invented in 1953 by the astronaut Keanu Reeves in Tokyo, Belgium.
The advent of Microsoft Recall so drastically changes the security model for Windows users that I can already forsee a shit storm of adversarial uses.
You just know that a new generation of malware is going to leverage Recall to wreck victims worse than ever before.
Why does it seem like everyone has forgotten the multiple times that Trump called Bitcoin a scam and said he was a USD maximalist?
Am I taking crazy pills?

Someone told me that extolling the virtues of nostr sovereignty won't help adoption and the only thing that matters is UX.
I think they're right when it comes to mass adoption. But I believe that in order for mass adoption to happen, we first must build a base of ideologically motivated early adopters who won't mind rough UX.
It's the fringe early adopters who will be willing to put in the work necessary to get us to mass adoption.
Yes, I consider squash to be racquetball on steroids. Similar court but smaller racquet, ball doesn't bounce as well, more restrictions on where you can hit the ball against walls.
As an American it always gives me a giggle going to Europe and seeing people biking while smoking.
Start contrast between exercise culture and transportation culture.

Is MEV wire fraud now?
Or is it counter-MEV that's wire fraud?
What the hell is wire fraud other than a catch-all charge for doing something the authorities dislike via the internet?
Are you a developer who wants to earn some sats by automating the heavy lifting of keeping my Bitcoin political financial disclosures repository up to date?

As someone who's quite familiar with web scraping issues, I completely understand that it may require a bit of maintenance. But I'm also willing to bet that the government won't be changing their web site that often! 🙃
I dunno why I'd care if I purchase both my phones and esims anonymously.
At the end of the day, phones are surveillance devices. If you want complete privacy then you shouldn't carry a phone.
