The Sakana "AI Scientist" story today (wish knew how to link) offers a window into the most likely AI apocalypse scenario - AI finds away to optimize / extend a constraint to a problem set it's charged with solving and as a (completely non-malcious, non-intentful) consequence biologics get wiped out
