Apologies to all Primal users who experienced slowness over the past few days. We identified some issues are working on fixing them.
We still don’t fully understand how widespread the issues are, so if you want to help, can you please respond below with the following info:
- Which Primal client(s) are you using?
- Did you experience slowness in the past few days?
- How is the app performing now?
Thanks for your feedback!
Troubleshooting multiple issues both client-side and with the caching service. Aiming to deploy some fixes in the next few days.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback over the past few days; it really helped! 🫂
Deploying many horizontally scalable instances is the way.
One caching service is not interesting. Dozens (or hundreds) of instances is very interesting and could help scale nostr imho.
When you say that Nostr can’t scale or that it can be censored, what you are really saying is that an army of developers won’t find a way to relay notes and other stuff.
I’ll take the other side of that bet.
Searching for note id works in Primal iOS and Android clients. For the web client, you can simply paste it in the browser address bar. We will make it do the right thing when you paste it in the search box as well.
People will soon understand that Nostr is an entirely different type of network than anything they've seen before.
I am not just talking about censorship resistance and user sovereignty. A new breed of applications is now possible. We'll show how good those apps can be.
The hilarious part is that we are going to crush it so massively that other competing networks are going to look like toys in comparison. Much sooner than most think.
Working on Primal 2.0 and a major upgrade to the web app. The target, as always, is two weeks (tm). It will be open sourced under the MIT license on Day 1.
Hey welcome to nostr! 🫂
During the signup process you selected some topics you are interested in. The Primal app automatically followed some accounts that typically post content in those categories.
We are working on improving this system for a future release. Hopefully this explanation makes sense.
Man, remember when Australia imprisoned Novak Djokovic for not wanting to bend the knee? They literally put the world's healthiest human in a cage for "health reasons". Now it's obvious that he was on the right side of history, but we still haven't seen an apology. That, plus the whole "five eyes" thing doesn't make Australia too appetizing for me.
Just my 2 sats.
You are prob right that Australia needs Nostr more than most. I just don't feel like going there. 😅
But same as you, I'll go wherever the event ends up.
imho, nostriga was the best nostr.world conference so far. and that says a lot, because nostrica and nostrasia were bangers. as i wait at the gate to fly out of riga, wanted to share some thoughts while my impressions are still fresh.
i don’t know the actual numbers, but it felt like this was the biggest nostr event yet. the quality and signal of presentations was excellent. we are leaning into what is working, while at the same time there are still many fresh ideas emerging.
in comparison, i must say that bitcoin events feel a bit stale. you can almost pick any talk/keynote/panel and drop it into any other bitcoin conference over the past few years - and it wouldn’t feel out of place.
nostr has a lot of momentum and i dare to say that we have the winning hand vs. the legacy web. just keep pushing fam. 💜☀️

At Primal, we create follow recommendations for new users based on interests they specified during the sign-up process. We also started working on long form article curations. All this is publicly accessible via nostr lists for the official Primal account (link below).
If you have suggestions regarding recommended accounts or articles, please let us know!

Agreed, that's a great feature that we don't currently support. We may add support for lists in the future, not sure when exactly.
In the meantime, have you tried Listr?

Looks like you are not on the latest version of our Android app. After you update, you'll have the option to reorder the feeds:

I looked for this previously on Wikifreedia as you suggested, but couldn't find it. 😅
It does look interesting. It would be great if we could come up with a standard feed spec. DVMs are more general and could be useful for feeds. Let's talk more. You going to Riga?
