"The fact is, the wealth held by the 26 richest capitalists in the world is equivalent to the total assets belonging to the worlds poorest 3.8 billion people - nearly half the worlds population. Can this be a coincidence? Surely not.
We should think of it the following way: we usually think of capitalism as something that provides wealth and abundance, but the truth is quite the opposite. Capitalism is a system that functions by producing scarcity."

I've been on here a few years, probably time for an #introduction !
I #TeachEcon, #economics, and #degrowth because it's what I know.
I discuss #ClimateChange and #USPolitics because I believe they are important (and #VoteBlue for the same reason).
I research #teaching, pedagogy, and grades because incentives matter, especially in #education.
I read and #AmWriting #fantasy and #SciFi just for the fun of it.
As tensions rise over protests and foreign policy, please remember we don't need to 100% agree to be on the same side.
Far-right fascists are mobilizing and authoritarian countries are weaponizong the #Gaza war to weaken democracy. These are far bigger threats than the fellow liberals who happen to have come down on the other side of this complex and highly-emotional topic of #Palestine and #Israel.
Good people can and do disagree, so it may be helpful to tone down the angry rhetoric.
Unhelpful.
Also, for context, I was arrested when linked arm and arm with students on my campus. While not biologically my kids, it has similar emotional connection, to me at least.
