@e38e83a6 @d762e03c Wait. The search teams actually found pieces of 2022 WJ1? I thought it was lost between the vineyards and the lake.
I am interested in Yukun Huang's work in combination with discussions this week about how there are so many Jupiter-mass interstellar objects flying around Trapezium.

New article by me for Sky & Telescope about Yukun Huang's talk at #DPSEPSC2023 yesterday: "'Planet X' May Have Left Our Solar System Billions of Years Ago" https://skyandtelescope.org/astronomy-news/planet-x-may-have-left-our-solar-system-billions-of-years-ago/

 Y. Huang: 3 most distant Sednoids (Sedna, 2012VP113 a.k.a. Biden, Leleakuhonua). Experience weak ...
@e38e83a6 I'm interested in this in combination with the discussion yesterday of lots of rogue Jupiter-mass objects flying around Trapezium.

@5864a332 @b6c520cc I have had automatic transcription change mentions of forces acting on asteroids int mentions of a popular Icelandic singer.
I learn that the majority of the House GOP stated today that they want to cut one-third of everything NASA does; along with all the other harm they want to do.

Something to remember when any of the Reps concerned claim to support NASA projects & missions.

I am also reminded of how Donald Trump and those with him wanted to be able to arbitrarily defund all NASA programs under the pretext of human lunar missions.
It remains way past time to stop letting corporations unilaterally make a mess of the sky.

New "detections" of @elonmusk Starlik satellites at low frequencies with EDA2 (a prototype of SKA-Low in Australia). The signal is very strong, with peaks at 1 MJy/beam (yes, uppercase M, MegaJansky). This is potentially disruptive for @9de405f1.

@5864a332 @50a2a59a Dengue has on occasion shown up around the San Francisco Bay too - anyplace where some unfortunate traveler may be bitten by one of the offending mosquito vectors: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/Dengue.aspx
Some speculative climate modeling for 250 million years from now.

One week until bits of Bennu fall from the sky.

I find a link to a scientist reacting to discussion of disastrous extreme weather due to climate change by promoting "prepper" ideas.

Do not do that.

Surviving disasters and addressing climate change are collective efforts.

As disaster preparedness experts keep explaining.
It remains way past time for NASA to make future contracts with SpaceX conditional on Elon Musk being removed from any role with the company.

@0c1a9324 @091c2bb0 If you should wish to inflate Bennu into a shell; you may want to put an outer layer of bag to stop pieces from flying away into space (more so that already happens, anyway).

Complications to this approach include the possibility of creating hot spots inside the containment that cook the mercury & arsenic in the rubble out into vapor that will freeze out onto any cold spots along with less-exciting water & sulfur.

@6a30a78d Yay for pictures and spectra of exoplanets.

But the acronym confusion with HiRISE on MRO keeps getting me.
