David Gauke (former Justice Minister) at the #Conservative Party conference: "There have always been links between the Conservative #right and #Farage but they were previously rather surreptitious. Now, there is no attempt to conceal them. Association with Farage is viewed by some as a positive advantage".
Gauke thinks Farage could be a #Tory #MP soon. Farage has happily appeared on the radio show of #AlexJones, who owes a billion dollars to the #SandyHook families

@f884fa2b 'According to Nancy Jacobson, who runs the group, “what’s best for Democracy is confidentiality.”' We have so-called think tanks who use that argument in the UK. Utter doublespeak
@40cd5708@30b6b534@1c71bd5c BBC ought to do much more here (although one of two of their journalists are very active). But their abandoning Threads looks like a straw in the wind...
It looks like that behind the far right #US government #shutdown threat was their desire to stop aid for #Ukraine. Truly, these people are #Putin's little helpers

#Europe's last passenger #train #ferry- "#Italy's most epic sleeper train, the InterCity Notte from #Milano Centrale to #Palermo & #Siracuse, is loaded onto the train ferry to cross the Straits of #Messina to #Sicily. It's the only place left in Europe where passenger trains go onto a ferry.

David Cay Johnston on the #Trump #fraud trial: "The evidence and the issues were so clear cut, Judge Arthur F. Engoron ruled on Tuesday, that there was no reason to waste the court’s time trying them".
Johnston is a New York journalist. "The Making of Donald Trump" summarised 30 years of reporting on him.

@fa1c03b8@3967703f I'm pretty sure that guy would be arrested in many European countries. There should be no free speech defence to harassment and incitement to violence
Every so often, people complain when a local #railway #LevelCrossing is removed. But it's idiocy like this that spoils it for everyone else. Those parents...

@d559a762@ae00144b a fascinating and joyful story. I'm glad our national museum has decided to return an artifact which is clearly so important to many
@26952a4b again, without minimising the destructive role of religion- I do worry that many critics of religion are a bit blinded to those other factors. Britain, for example, is very secular, yet we got Brexit. Small towns in eastern Germany have been post religious for nearly a century now, yet the AfD is doing well there
@2abc7379 I was still at school when I went InterRailing for the first time. My parents got my postcard from Calais after I arrived home. I'd no contact with them for two weeks- unthinkable nowadays, but my parents trusted me and my friends!
@84dc9e25@3a9c438d I'm glad to say that I still seem to be following you. Thanks for following back. I'm sorry your previous instance dealt with you like that. I think your experience in your home country gives you insight on the potential perils of your trade which others are less aware of
