Film, movies have always been an important part of my life, an escape, a look into other worlds.
But I've realised today, after a little research, how important the years 1986-1988 were. For me they are the best years in film. My humour, language, views on culture, relationships, mental health and many other things, stem a great deal from my love of films from this time.
As a boy at the time my mum took me to films I still watch and have introduced to my kids. Short Circuit, Labyrinth, An American Tale, Three Amigos, Harry and the Hendersons, Innerspace, The Princess Bride, *Batteries Not Included, Beetlejuice, Willow, Big, to name a few classics. It was a really positive and formative experience in a world of chaos and fear outside.
As a teenager I came across many other films I love, and many came from these three years. Highlander, Top Gun, Ferris Buellers Day Off, Big Trouble in Little China, Aliens, Platoon, Lethal Weapon, Predator, The Lost Boys, Red Heat, Coming to America, Die Hard, Young Guns.
For me this was the best period of film making, but what other years do others love?

There were many more I liked from those years I didn't include.
I'm the same, all the non- kids movies I watched on VHS later, I borrowed lots of tapes as a teenager and just watched everything I could.
Project Gutenberg is a great site, dedicated to recording and providing access to knowledge in the form of ebooks, audiobooks etc.
Today I found 'Meditations' by Marcus Aurelius, a book on primitive shelters, huts and log cabins and an Anglo-Saxon dictionary, all for free. It's all old stuff, but there is a great deal of knowledge to be found.

I was doing it at work, so I mostly just copied the text and pictures into a word doc and saved that. I download and print a great deal of "educational materials" at work 😂
Not an expert either. The value of cash is always trending down, best to spend it immediately on bills, costs eyc, Bitcoin trends up, so it's a better store of value.
As far as spending, if you're going to buy, spend or pay bills anyway convert to Bitcoin and pay that way, Strike will let you pay from cash to Bitcoin. And small payments are easy with lightning.
Easier said than done for sure. I've never had a flu shot, but I had a double dose of the clot shot to keep my job, hard decision, but the house my kids live in depended on it.
Cheekily I have an old phone that I 'mine' sats on fountain with, I definitely get less sats than my account I actually listen to podcasts on. They must throttle accounts seen as dodgy.
I find it fascinating that the moon may be part of Earth knocked off by a collision with another celestial body, a little Earth child keeping us company.
Zombie knives?! You have to hand in your unregistered knives?

Buy an old dictionary.
A dictionary is like a history book for words and in these days where so many fear the written or spoken word, a record of what words actually mean.
So go out and buy an old dictionary, a big 80's or 90's edition from a second hand or charity store, it'll cost a few bucks.
Use it, read it (you may learn a few new, fun words) or just put it behind your livestream to look more intellectual, but have it.

I don't go to shopping centres often, but the evolution of the dumbing down of kids playgrounds is amazing.
Today my wife pointed one out, "it's just a tube and TV." And it was, a short tube with pale rainbow flashing lights and a TV with some transfixed mouth breathing toddlers in front of it.
In the past the playgrounds were maze like action courses, with slides and things to climb, now a tube and TV.

I would have trouble remembering an entire nsec myself.
For me if I chunk things into 3 character parts, that helps me remember longer numbers etc, seems to have a flow or cadencein my head that works. If you could do that with bigger chunks of 6 or so it may work.
Advice from a normal pleb. Fill out your bio a bit more, with what you are personally interested in, hobbies, values etc. If I go to someone's bio and there's no info I'm less interested in following you as a person.
Which crusade? Some failed, some did not. The Saracens did not fight like the French or other European armies, they were not slow moving, easy targets.
Man, it feels like that doesn't it.
The entire network of systems seem designed to trip us up, to suppress our joy and freedom and siphon off any gains we make. Certainly the siphoning is real.
Bring on the grey and black markets and alternative systems, we need them more than ever. Hopefully that's what we are all building on Nostr.
You are not alone.
We're at peak end of empire, the modern world makes me sick. The thought of my kids being exposed to this degeneracy fills me with rage and a little despair.
