Because of #Bitcoin I am no longer paying attention to US political races. I used to be so wrapped up in them but now I understand that it doesn't matter which party wins, they will keep debasing the dollar.

These topics are designed to distract, incite anger, and generate advertising revenue. If you feel disturbed that your most important issue is on this list, you've fallen prey to their distraction.
Our financial markets are so complex that the average person can't understand what to do. Even so-called expert money managers have no idea. Most advisors are trained to simply parrot the company line and generate sales, regardless of whether the product fits the customer. Most Americans are stuck in a cycle of working to pay for low-quality goods and hope that they can retire someday. Outside of Bitcoin, everything else is pure gambling.
Elections are just a diversion. The President doesn't have the power to fundamentally change the system. The government protects business interests, not your personal rights. No matter which party is in control, they will continue to print money, devalue the currency, and erode your freedoms while distracting you with other issues.
The only things that matter are sound money and self-sovereignty.
The only form of liquid sound money is Bitcoin. Stacking sats is the best way to secure your financial future. The next best thing is to spend some to support the growth of the network. Just imagine how much sooner Bitcoin could change the world if every Bitcoiner made even a few transactions a month, even if it was just one Lightning purchase or a donation to OpenSats or The Human Rights Foundation Bitcoin Dev Fund or a few zaps on Nostr.
Self-sovereignty is the ability to choose how you want to live your life. In first-world countries, our freedoms have been eroded not just by laws and regulations but also by dictating how to think. Self-sovereignty means thinking for yourself and choosing what's right for you and your family. No government can do this for you.
Self-sovereignty also means allowing others to make their own choices. I don't need to convince anyone of my truth, nor do I need anyone to convince me of their truth.
Have the discipline to stop getting distracted. Focus on supporting Bitcoin and furthering your own self-sovereignty.

AI and Recruiting
As a recruiter I use AI tools, but it is not as much as AI marketers would lead you to believe. The AI recruiting tools are not yet fully developed and the recruiting process is very complex and based on human interaction. AI tools for recruiting have been available for over 10 years and I have watched them develop from rudimentary to useable tools. But the bulk of my AI usage is the same as most people - creating documents, ideating interview questions, taking notes, and generating social media posts. But ranking and sorting through candidates is another thing altogether.
I have used over a dozen different recruiting AI tools and they all have shortcomings. In 2024 the technology has not developed enough to have a large impact on the job candidate selection process.
I would love to hit a button and ten perfect candidates appear on my screen. But this is not possible with the current tools. I still spend a large part of my day scanning resumes and LinkedIn profiles.
As a recruiter I am required to read between the lines. I need to have an understanding of my company’s industry and the unique needs of team and AI is not ready for these fine details.
Here are some examples of how AI falls short:
* AI would not know that the hiring manager would be interested in someone who worked at one of our competitors even if they did not meet half of our job requirements.
* AI might pass by someone who did not have the right programming language but their degree in Finance would offset this requirement.
* Two years working in a startup is the same as Four years at a fortune 500 company.
* The manager’s top five job requirements would not be so firm if the candidate had two other specific skills.
These nuances are critical insights I've gained through years of experience and building relationships.
Due to AI's current constraints, companies remain hesitant to fully rely on it for hiring decisions. Thus, the core recruiting process has seen minimal change. For job seekers in skilled positions, this means traditional methods like manual resume reviews still heavily influence hiring outcomes despite recent advances in AI.
Looking forward, I’m optimistic about AI’s potential to improve recruiting efficiency. I anticipate future developments that will offer better tools for both job seekers and recruiters, potentially overcoming the current deficiencies.

Bitcoin Protopia
I have always believed that there are at least three choices. The world is never just black or white, and the statement “If you are not for us, you are against us” is perplexing. I dislike it when people ask, “Do you want a cookie or an apple?” Like Captain Kirk, I don’t believe in the no-win scenario, and Bitcoin will not bring about dystopia or utopia.
The idea of protopia, coined by futurist Kevin Kelly, defines a society where people are free from the gridlocks of suffering and recurring oppression. With this freedom, humanity can collectively move in a mutually positive direction. This does not mean that everyone will be equal or experience everything they desire, but there are tangible signs that things are progressing in the right direction.
Today, things have become so contrary that most of us have tunnel vision and are caught in echo chambers. We are so polarized that we can’t hear each other yelling. The opposition party will not destroy the country, and your candidate will not save it. There is always a third option.
Bitcoin is the third option.
However, Bitcoin is not going to create nirvana, and not everyone defines utopia the same way. What we can achieve is a world where Bitcoin provides freedom, and people can use it to enrich their lives as they see fit.
If spending Bitcoin brings you freedom, then spend it. If saving sats brings you freedom, then save them. If doing both improves your life, then do both. That is Bitcoin Protopia.

I set up a new Lightning address by opening up a channel and depositing 100,000+ sats and it cost about $6 to create the channel. After adding my new Lightning address to my Damus mobile app my zaps were activated. I tested it with a separate wallet and I am now set up for zaps.

My Recent Experience with Lightning Wallets
Over the last two weeks, I explored #nonKYC and #noncustodial #Lightning wallets, looking for one with WalletConnect functionality for #Nostr zapping that works in the US.
As an iOS user not running my own Lightning server, I couldn't try Blue, Electrum, or Zeus. I found that Strike, Speed, Alby, Current, and Blink require some form of KYC, and Eclair is only available on Android.
Here are the wallets I tested:
Mutiny Wallet - https://www.mutinywallet.com/
#Mutiny Wallet was easy to set up, and the user interface is intuitive. The fees are very low, and payments are quick. It runs on both web and mobile, and support on Discord was responsive. It is a non-custodial wallet with a seed phrase for recovery. I also tried the Mutiny+ service, which had a 14,000 sat monthly fee. Unfortunately, the Wallet Connect service is temporarily unavailable due to issues with their federations, leading to many payment failures. Muun Wallet - https://muun.com/
#Muun Wallet's mobile app is easy to set up and very intuitive, with very low fees. It is a non-custodial wallet with three recovery methods, including email, a private key and an emergency kit. I avoided the email backup function to maintain privacy, but the other two options required no contact info. Muun supports both Bitcoin Main Chain and Lightning. Although I didn't need to contact support, there is a support email in the app (support@muun.com). The only downside is the lack of a WalletConnect address.
Breez Wallet - https://breez.technology/mobile/
#Breez Wallet's mobile app was easy to set up, and transactions are fast, but I experienced a high rate of failed transactions. There are fees for opening new channels and a 0.4% fee for transactions over 45,000 sats. While I didn't need to contact support, the developers respond to questions in the iOS store, and support is available at contact@breeze.technology. Breez is non-custodial, but the only backup method is through Google, iCloud, or a remote server, which is less secure than a seed phrase. I recommend using this wallet for small amounts only. There is no wallet connect.
Conclusion
My current wallet of choice is Muun. It is a fully developed wallet, and while it doesn't support Nostr zapping directly, I can still zap with Lightning Invoices, which is what I am used to as an iOS user.
When Mutiny resolves its issues, I would consider using Mutiny.
