#WritersCoffeeClub - Are you self-published or trad-published? Many of my short stories are published in literary magazines, I've been included in anthologies as well. I wrote a novella that was the wrong length for submitting anywhere. So I decided to send it off to a printer and sell it myself. I printed 30 copies and sold 30 copies, which was more than I'd expected to sell. For me it was facing the fear of being seen as "not good enough" - that I hadn't had it published by an indie publisher. 

 3 Good Things

1. Ukrainian pop music. (I like pop music but find the lyrics insufferable. Not understanding them is the key.)

2. Have figured out how to listen to blasty music and watch movies with subtitles at the same time while doing the fixing-my-crabby-shoulder treadmill.

3. If you like 124 BPM music while fixing your crabby shoulder, turns out there are whole playlists that are the same BPM.

I know my drawing worked when I want to go out for coffee with the creature I created...

Intro: Shameless self-promotion. What's your WIP? What's it about? I'm writing a flash piece that's both funny and angry, my favourite kind. I'm also writing a novella in flash, a collection of flash fiction pieces all set in the same world and featuring a loose group of characters, telling their own stories but in the process telling a larger story.

3. Overjoyed to see my friend Finn Burnett on the CBC shortlist, THEY ARE AMAZING.

2. A REALLY encouraging rejection from FancyPants McGee (not their real name) for the first story in my novella in flash.

3. The New Zealand version of The Traitors is just a bunch of humans being really nice to each other.
