Personally I'd put the Compact flash on the back using a slot adapter just to maintain the retro look of the front. Assuming you don't plan on swapping cards super frequently, at least. If you run out of free slots because you have it filled up with actual cards you can modify one with a bit of hackery to fit a spare empty DB-25 punch out instead.
