HRF has a founding mission to focus on authoritarian regimes. They don’t consider the USA to be an authoritarian regime. I have my own personal views and will keep speaking up for what I think is important. Personally I think Julian’s case is one of the most important ones of our age. But I work at HRF because most people on earth (72% or more) live under authoritarian regimes and there is very little attention or resources paid to most of their struggles. Probably less than $2M annually for example for Chinese human rights work. It’s a good thing to do to try and help where we can. When I gave my speech about Assange I made sure to wear a Free Navalny pin to underline this point. Everything is connected.
