On Jan. 10, 2021, then-President Donald Trump’s White House Coronavirus Task Force urged Governor Ron DeSantis to reinstitute masking and physical distancing, advised “active and aggressive” vaccination, and warned about communicating to the public the importance of “avoiding family gatherings” in Florida.

Despite pressure from the Trump administration, DeSantis decided against the recommendations.
