I'm calling it now:
Trump will fire Gensler and replace him with someone worse.
There really are no "good" options for such a role since the role itself is so evil. The best you can rationally hope for is someone who does nothing, and the government won't tolerate such a person.
I'm afraid we will want Gensler back. He hasn't been all that bad considering how awful the entire institution is.
People are cheering for his removal as if the position and institution will go away with him; they won't. They'll simply be filled with someone else.
And be honest with yourself. What kind of people do you think actually want roles like that? It's not like there's a large pool of good people eager to take the job. They're mostly varying degrees of awful, and even if they aren't, they won't be able to do much good inside such an evil box.
