 Get yourself one of these:

 You have one? Worth it?
 Absolutely. 💯

Shot one for 38$. Worth every penny. Came with a lot of roms pre installed (including some pokemon games). But you can add your own roms too. You can also play N64 games and many other consoles on it. I only would suggest buying another sd card since the one that comes with it is not the best quality and might die on you and you loose all yoir games and save files. https://image.nostr.build/814b9f68275ea0e239181d6d47bbef132fca995eeae08aa2344253a971619509.jpg
Where do you download the roms from? Does it have a list of installed games somewhere
I downloaded my roms many years ago when i set up my retroarch console. Unfortunately i don’t know a good source of roms atm. Maybe a reddit search can help. The pre installed rom list may also vary from vendor to vendor. But i think the common classics might everywhere be included (zelda, super mario …)
You can find them on the Internet Archive. At least, I've found up through PSX gen on there. It can help to search for packs from well known release or collection groups. For example, No-Intro is really popular for SNES era and earlier, not sure if they did later gens or not. If you search for No-Intro ROM packs, you'll probably find complete packs for systems, like all or nearly all the SNES games in one bundle, or for later systems with larger games like PSX, something like all games A-F in one bundle, G-L in another, etc.
 Check out vimm‘s lair 👌
How are the buttons? Is there a audio jack ?
Buttons are quite good. I read a lot of complaints before buying about the buttons being stiff. But i never felt that. Maybe there was a prior version with stiffer buttons but these ones are good.

Audio jack ✅
Audio jack is right in the middle of the bottom side
I don't see atari on the list. Is that because of aliexpress being how it is or is it not there? How hackable to add another emulator?
Super easy. You can flash the os very quickly. There are a lot of options. I use arkOS. Comes with an instance of retroarch and with retroarch you can pretty much emulate everything if you add the right core
Ah, I've used lakka and retroarch before on a raspi as a living room console.
 🙏

Yes, i had a similar setup. But this thing is just so easy to pick up and have a quick blast (while your wife can watch tv 😅)
I immediately thought of it as a good first gaming system for my little one that always wants to steal my flipper to play games.
 💪

Perfect usecase. It’s really nice because it works with 2 sd cards. You can use one for the os and another one for the roms. And you can swap them in seconds if you for example wsnt your child only to have access to certain games
 Are roms hard to find?
 Nope

Just search for „vimm‘s lair“
There also is a megathread on github where you can download whole libraries for different platforms
