i dunno if it is necessarily completely gone for that long though... there is a moment where the galactic current sheet is going to be exactly 90 degrees to the earth's field and in the decades before and after, this will steadily weaken, it may be a decade where it's really almost nothing

and 42000 years ago is just one of the events... the Magura Cave in Bulgaria is evidence that around 12000 years ago humans also were mainly living in caves, and the "woman" in the human-looking depictions i suspect it was the Cosmic Thunderbolt which is part of the no field because the earth's atmosphere is so intensely charged by plasma, ions, high energy particles and ultraviolet radiation ... and LOTS of cloud cover also, btw, it definitely will cool down the climate dramatically
