No we don't Gigi. You are right. But I would rather have politicians defend self custody than not.

In Europe, they will ban self custody. And that means you will have bitcoin martyrs. Guaranteed.

I would rather not risk being a bitcoin martyr.

Living in a bitcoin friendly jurisdiction is better.

Madeira is Europe. I hope all stays well but when shits hit the fan Europe will send their military to Madeira for the Bitcoin.
I didn't re-read Gigi's legendary post but I think this is a good addendum. The fact that this right need not be granted also plays a role in politicians incentives, slowly but surely, so one would expect (as we are seeing right now) that more and more politicians/jurisdictions embrace this fact.

The next stage of this fight is privacy, bitcoin itself in practice provides no help here.
The right does not need to be granted. It's a human right granted by god.

But I would rather live in a jurisdictions where the state is not agressive towards me.

In Europe the state will be aggressive against people who self custody.

Mock Americans that celebrate friendly politicians all you want, you might not be laughing anymore in 5-10 years
Right I was agreeing with you
