Oh you young thing... This is nothing new.  Back when you were late teens/early 20s we had 40yr amorts and the conservatives under Flaherty played with all sorts of schemes because "affordability".  I also saw a Toronto Star front page with the TREB President claiming 400k Toronto home prices were "unsustainable".  Here's a decent comedy bit about those times and how they play us.
