what is some essential hiking and camping equipment and what are some nice-to-haves?

planning on going with a bunch of buddies in the next couple of weeks
Not my usual hobby although I say it'd be better not to think what is need to be brought but what can be done at the very moment with the bare minimum that can be found at the place of staying; a fire is the most common. Have fun!
this is definitely really true 💜
 camelback for water
 damn, good shout
depending on the area i used to bring some extra plastic garbage bags. aside from using them to clean up i would use them often if it rained. I have a heavy duty one that i line the inside of my pack with so everything isnt soaked if it does rain
 ooohh, good one 🤗
Comfy, waterproof boots and top of the line rain gear are mandatory.
any that you'd recommend from experience?

might get to upgrading my gear one day
Not sure if they are international but Simms has the best rain gear. Merrell has great footwear options.
 thank you so much 🤗
 🤙
Quality boots, lots of water, a waterproof/windproof jacket, lighter
 🤝 good ones
Very much depends on where and how. Are you backpacking or just setting up camp and going for day hikes? Hiking hours from the vehicles, or are they right there?
probably for day hikes and right there
Ok, so bring lots of clean water (probably lots more than you think you'll need) but you don't need water filtration. You don't have to worry about weight overall, so bring what you want, but think about what to carry with you. bring something waterproof (rain jacket/pants, but a plastic poncho or even trash bag will work in a pinch) and basically never leave camp without at least one extra warm layer, just in case. If your feet ever give you problems, bring way more socks than you think you need. towels to leave in the vehicle. camp towels are nice, but with the car right there, no need. First aid kit. tons more, but that's my first thoughts.
ohh, i really need to get a proper first aid kit, good reminder

so many wonderful ideas here, thanks a bunch 💜
