how anyone gets persuaded that the government can do a better job when a casual search of internet service quality around the world to find just even ONE government funded one that ranks in the top 100

the opposite... the countries with the best internet don't have a government one and the former telecoms monopoly company is not usually the number 1 either

eg, vivacom in bulgaria is the biggest but its quality is not as good as net1 or vodafone or blizoo or m-tel (formerly globul, a greek company)... in 2016 i worked in a network services company and they were always moaning about how bad the vivacom network was... yeah, more bandwidth, and more downtime
