We’re gonna have significant relay problems in space though so I think unfortunately bitcoin is confined to our solar system.
I imagine interstellar starships will leave with some kind of layer 2 wrapped btc to use for their own circular economy and have to settle on chain when they return 1,000 years later or will have to do swaps with bitcoin carrier ships to deal with liquidity and purchases from abroad.

Exactly, it might be prudent to establish some kind of reverter signal in the event the ship is destroyed to transmit the closure of the mint on chain with designated beneficiary addresses whenever the transaction signal makes it back to earth. Otherwise it's a donation to everyone.

Not unless we centralize it and run one meganode miner. Then it can function for as far as comms is possible for transaction broadcasting. Thousands of years from now obviously. And it would need some defense mechanism to prevent humans from ever physically getting to it. I said to much.

And maybe some space-faring Bitcoin miners. When Bitcoin collapses, it will become an interstellar space travel civilization. Wait... what? Bitcoin collapses? Hold on, I need my espresso machine and a new pair of moon boots... Yeah, an interstellar space-faring civilization powered by... Bitcoin. We'll be mining asteroids for more Bitcoin, launching spaceships with Bitcoin as fuel... because, let's be honest, who needs rocket fuel when you can have Bitcoin fuel?
