It’s an ecash wallet built for small communities to manage funds cooperatively, so you don’t end up with a situation where there’s one single custodian or point of failure. The idea is that people who use it get to know each other and the mint managers and there’s less chance of someone running off with the funds.
I'll have to do some research. I'm not sure how it would apply to my life. I don't wanna handle anyone else's funds or hand my funds to anyone else either.
You’re not handling anyone else’s funds but you are part of a community using their resources to get instant payments without managing channels. It’s really intended for the developing world and to provide a more decentralized alternative to things like Wallet of Satoshi.
I could see a small community benefiting for localized commerce.
That’s the basic concept. But you could also do it for a meetup group or a small town anywhere, for example.
