The salt circle complete, the final symbols painstakingly chalked onto the hard concrete. She carefully lit the 5 candles around the summoning circle, carefully avoiding the drawn lines and arcs. Each word fell from her lips, dripping with intent, breathlessly pushed into existence to pierce the veil of this real and reached another.
Coming back to the protection  ring the last words chanted deep up from her chest, growling out her throat and pulled from her mouth as the energy grew and swirled.
From the summoning circle centre erupted a haze of smoke and mist, hues of blue and green backlight from another realm, circled a darker form peeling its way into this realm.
Contorted a skeletal feature of eyes, void of nose and stranger jaw revealed itself. Behind these features coils of something horrific, almost unimaginable flickered in and out of perception.
Candles flickered the light seeming to be drawn out of this side of reality into the opening void of the next.
