99% of Tennessee is conservative and mostly rural. The 3 cities I would avoid are Memphis, Nashville and Chattanooga... We are about 50 miles from Nashville, many times I forget to lock my doors, leave keys in the car and equipment out... (I am on 30 acres and you can see us) but we have very little crime. Depending on what you want land is relatively inexpensive, costs are low compared to other places. We don't have a state income tax, property taxes are low... We do have a high sales tax (9.5%)
Tennessee has Constitutional Carry, meaning anyone can carry a firearm (concealed or open) just about everywhere. The weather is overall decent with mild and short winters and hot, but short summers. It's easy to get to a lot of places from here... Also note Tennessee is a wide but short state. Driving lengthwise takes about 8 hours. Top to bottom is 2 hours... Further east is mountains, further west is flat. We are hilly in our area, but no mountains.
I've lived all over the US, and think that Tennessee is one of the nicest places. Most people are friendly.
