Researchers at IBM have created a new set of software engineering (SWE) agents that use open large language models (LLMs) to autonomously resolve GitHub issues efficiently. The SWE-Agent 1.0, powered by open LLMs, can localize and fix problems within five minutes, with a 24% success rate on the SWE-bench tests. This technology aims to reduce the workload of developers by automating tasks such as finding bugs, suggesting fixes, and testing ideas.
