all people are like this in basically all matters.  it is simply more grotesque when it comes to age of consent because a few disgusting traits intersect around that issue:   

1 - taboos and sexual repression
2 - virtue signaling
3 - identity politics / partisanship
4 - religion 

so you have absurdities piling up on top of each other, amplifying each other and culminating in ways that get ugly.

but the underlying flaws of human nature apply to all areas of life.  people are ALWAYS absurd and disgusting if you pay enough attention.
