 17th book of 2024 completed:

Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari

A very interesting description of the Cognitive Revolution in homo Sapiens that occurred ~70,000 years ago. Humans ability to tell stories and create abstract concepts allowed us to communicate and organize more effectively, primarily around social structures that only exist in the mind.

The last couple chapters as Harari gets closer to modernity he goes a bit off the rails, putting too much faith (imo) on governments and believing transhumanism is a likely way forward.

His turn towards the WEF agenda at the end should not discount the excellent thought provocation of the rest of the book.

Would recommend, with those caveats
