The Baseball Hall of Fame has announced its Classic Eras Committee ballot, featuring eight former players, including Steve Garvey and Tommy John from the Los Angeles Dodgers. The committee selected these candidates based on their impact before 1980. Garvey, a durable first baseman, holds the National League record for consecutive games played (1,207). John, a crafty left-hander, pitched for several teams and won 288 games. Other notable candidates include Dick Allen, Ken Boyer, Dave Parker, Luis Tiant, John Donaldson, and Vic Harris.
