I’ve been reading an American history book from the 1800s.
Some really interesting things in there I’ve never heard.
The British were actively using information warfare to foment resentment between European Immigrants, and Native Tribes. Before the war of 1812, the general sentiments toward the Native culture was respectful. But the British helped to foment, fund, and arm some radical “kill all the white people” leaders. (Just like the U.S. did recently in Ukraine funding and arming Nazi movements). Some of the things that went down during the war of 1812 with the Tecumseh confederacy shifted the general sentiment as the rumors of Natives siding with and fighting for the British circulated. This change in sentiment was exploited by expansionists 30 years later in passing the Indian Appropriations act.
