It's suprising it's not active by default.

 Yes, the other person's client needs to have nip44 dms on too for it to work.  Just tap it on and off. 

 Oh, ok. So is this only for DMs? I thought post replies too. Great feature though.

Amethyst is good, but Oxchat has more DM privacy  features. It is still better to use SimpleX for sensitive convos.
