I don’t like people knowing I had any because then I’m a target 😉
Joking aside, I never went crazy trying to orange pill people because I spent years doing that with other things like the carnivore diet or whatever thing I felt was super important at the time. It comes across condescending and arrogant even if what you’re saying is true.
If people ask what I’ve been up to then I’ll explain that I’ve been learning a lot about the intersection of finance and technology which is enough to put most clients to sleep on my table (context: I’m a massage therapist). But if they’re curious then I’ll explain my understanding of the bitcoin protocol in the most honest way I know how. I end up learning more about bitcoin (by teaching) and they’ve at least heard of it. I feel I’ve done my job.
I have a dad who somehow makes every conversation relate back to baseball somehow. I can’t make this up, literally EVERYTHING. Now, bitcoin literally does relate to everything but it’s so obnoxious to be “that guy” whose whole identity can be summarized by one word. You cut yourself off from reality.
Let bitcoin fuel you, the real you. People will ask, “How are you so optimistic about the future despite this that and the other thing?” You put your energy into the new system. Save in bitcoin, self custody, work on your craft.
