Tbh devices are becoming redundant because of the software requirements rather than hardware obsolescence. 

More OTA updates for apps that need more resources, making the devices slower and slower.  

My battery is fried, but I *can* replace it and the USB board for relatively cheap on my android device. 

In fact, I need to replace the charge port and audio jack because of corrosion
