Stop saying that privacy is not a crime, it is. Money laundering is an actual crime. Crime != unethical Law != ethics Let's all get on the same page.
Hold up, the privacy is still not a crime though, the money laundering is 🤔
It would also depend on why you are laundering the money. Law =/= ethics
Money laundering is not a crime. The actual crime happened before, like cleaning a knife full of blood is not a crime itself. But since law and the ones who enforces it often can't prove a crime or what they appeal as a crime, then they create new laws, word or phrases that will fit their shenanigans in order to pursue their total control goals.
What is or not a crime is decided by the law. So semantically, you are wrong. It is a crime.
Just found this new episode, andistening right now.. coincidence? 👀 https://fountain.fm/episode/OVtmun7WrheOJ0WjnvcV
Even if the money came from a crime you committed, laundering that money is not the unethical part. Should a bank robber also be charged with the crime of conceleaing his face on top of the original crime of robbing the bank? It's pretty ridiculous if you ask me
Suppose someone robs you, tells a friend, and then asks the friend to help them move the money so that it can't be tracked back to the origin. Is moving the money ethical or unethical?
Unethical
Money laundering is just an act of seeking financial privacy. Not all privacy enabled acts have been outlawed (yet) all though they are trying to ban e2e encryption.
Who decides what a crime is, or what is ethical or not.. .. I don't believe will ever be a moment in time human history we'll all get on the same page about those topics. .. I am not sure I want to live in a place where everyone will be on the same page.. I fear what would happen when some would start to write a different page, what would happen to him..?
That's not the page I was referring to. All I want is for people to recognize that was is illegal is not necessarily unethical. We only need to be on the same page about semantics, otherwise we can't even have meaningful discussion.
Oh, than I totally misunderstood your note.. my apologies. Reading this now, make me think actually we see it very alike 🤙🫂
Privacy is not a crime
Money laundering is a crime and privacy is not a crime. Also, money laundering is a crime where everyone transferring money is presumed guilty until proven innocent. That my friend is illegal as there is due process
Why stop saying privacy is not a crime? It isn't. And often times we say it isn't for things that shouldn't be
The point is that even though privacy is now criminalized, it doesn't mean it's also now unethical
What law does privacy violate? I know of none in the US
Fortunately, for now there is no broad law prohibiting privacy. But several privacy seeks actions have been criminalized (such as "money laundering") while others were and will be attempted (Crypto Wars, 3rd Party Doctrine, banning E2E encryption, etc).
Money laundering is a fictious crime. Show me the victim of this supposed crime.
Agreed and question the definition of crime by reminding war crimes not thought/feeling crime or word crimes rather action crimes and privacy, self custody and security including cyber security are not same thing despite getting on same page and check https://blog.torproject.org/surveillance-as-a-service-global-impact-of-israeli-defense-technologies-on-privacy-human-rights/ on myth of normal, civil/community norms including for digital communities in Tech law especially exploitation of low tech communities.
