I mean, they probably still can't but that's only the in game piece. Let's add in "real" lightning in that there is a real wallet associated with every player upon join without them knowing a thing about Bitcoin. The wallets work if the game is down because it runs on a proper node. Wallet Sync to an IRL wallet. 
As opposed to having lightning features in game, Sovereign Craft is an Interface to a Lightning infrastructure. There is no money "in game", you, or even the 3rd party plugins designed for a virtual economy, just can't tell the difference because it's that fast.
When you zap me, you zap my character. There is no separation.
