Is Google Android really that much messed up? https://ia.net/topics/our-android-app-is-frozen-in-carbonite Is iOS trending there? Web often seems like a mess too, but at least it's still open and standardized and not ran by bureaucrats changing rules and APIs at will.
Never use Google Drive as a database.
android is messed up but is the best we have today. Something better would be MORE open, not less. IOS is for licensed cuckholding.
a BSD based android would be fantastic, and it could also run laptop and desktop hardware, add the namespacing and facilitate porting linux drivers to work with it (which can already mostly be done, it's just a lot of work) and it would be pretty friggin awesome... BSDs architecture is so much simpler than linux, and can literally include linux kernel modules
agree, but today is even a challenge porting mainline linux kernel on devices, I cant imagine how difficult could be porting bsd.
it's really not... hell, i was running BSD on a Mac Quadra back in 1999... what's hard is hardware, but i've seen nvidia proprietary drivers running on a BSD installation back in 2019... yes, it had X on it too really it's just a matter of - how to monetize providing this... mobile hardware is a big problem but PC hardware with UEFI and AMD64/ARM64 is doable, and hardware you can fully (so to speak) replace the OS on like Pixels can do this too, the differences to the other major platform now are steadily reducing
