 #asknostr #DegoogledPhones

I currently use a graphene os phone, which i love. But i want to learn to install graphene on my own, so i'm gonna look for a used pixel. Besides being unlocked, is there any other feature i should look for on a pixel?
I learned how to install linux on my laptops, now i want to learn to degoogle my own phones.
Nope. That's about it, really. Just pick your flavor.

I ended up not buying a used pixel because the secondary phone market is stupid at the moment. I'll have to wait a few months to degoogle my phone, but... It's not the end of the world at this point.
You mean they are too pricey right now? Its no rush for me either, will be a learning tool.
Well, yes. The new flagships cost over a grand. I usually buy a year old flagship used. Usually, they are under 250-300. That is no longer the case, I think because many people can't afford the brand new stuff.

Insert rant about stupid yearly development cycles for hardware here.

There are a few phones for sale in the marketplace, so maybe check those out?
Yeah definitely will get a used one.
the 6a i think is the oldest model with support still tik 2027 or so.
Great to hear you love it. I want to buy pixel and degoogle it too.

I wonder if the finance apps like banks work with it.

If you need to use an app that requires GPS (Google play services) you can install a second profile on the phone and keep all the spying apps there away from your private stuff.

There are YouTube videos explaining how to do this
 Thank you:))))
A second profile-----

I will screenshot your note and will look up.
Yes, this is how I have seen people do it (saw it in person too)
I use Calyx instead of Graphine but the only financial app I've found that doesn't work is CashApp.
Hmm, Cashapp works great on my current graphene phone, a 7a. I bought it already flashed, but i want to learn to do it myself.
Do you know how long it's been installed? My wife's calyx had cashapp until she had to reset her phone. I would say about 8 months ago we couldn't install it any longer. Unfortunately, places like apkpure don't keep old versions of financial apps, so I don't know how to fix it. We both use calyx on a pixel 7 and pixel 6. When you get your "new" phone I would be very intersted to see if you can use cashapp.
Also, we install cashapp fine, we can't sign in ocevits installed.
I think i've had it installed about a year or so. I havent bought another phone yet, to test. But no issues on my current graphene one.
 Buy refurb.
Inspiring. Please keep us posted. Need to make a similar change.
Make sure it is factory unlocked not carrier unlocked. There is a chip built into the tensor chip in the pixel 8 and up that is a spyng chip (I'm sorry I can't remember the name). Someone at Brax.me can shed some light on it I'm sure. We use Calyx, maybe try flashing calyx just to try it out then change to graphine. I like both systems and both are easy to flash. I feel like calyx is a little more user friendly for my family.
You can probably get something used in the 7-8 generation for cheap. Installation was easy! I would not get the 6. Meaningfully slower and battery was worse
I am interested in thus degoogling adventure. I would also like to learn this on an old cheaper phone. please keep me posted
