Ngl I’m still wrapping my head around how all this works, but it seems to me the relays themselves need a better way to market and monetize. The way I found relays to connect to was by going to old #plebstr (pre OpenVibe) and seeing which relays other people were connected to there.

How do other Nostriches find relays besides Blastr?

You see the people you follow’s relays and snag the free ones, get a paid relay, or run your own even.
On Damus you can see others relay lists, and add relays with one tap. Screenshots below: https://image.nostr.build/b4831df7da81f1f2f6b63322c73c2101cde3c252f5cc52750f5ed602cd067061.jpg https://image.nostr.build/218e11cb7c22fcbcee48dd105c3aac738b98836af8ef811dbb4b01b7bcc436bd.jpg
 Om amethyst too.
So then the user path is

Be sold by a user's bio

Go in and manually add relay for chance at social mediaing with them?
It’s one way to find relays.

There are multiple technical solutions to chat with folks with whom you do not share a relay with.

And yes, there is an unhappy path where you might not be able to find someone’s note.
I'd love to know what some of those technical solutions are!
Search for gossip, outbox, relay hints. A lot of discussion round this parts recently 😅.

A more basic hack is broadcast the parent note to your relays when replying.
I found ones that others were using, I also have my own zap.nostr1.com
Things that make you go hmmm. Are Nodes monetized at all, where they can receive zaps directly to help pay for storage/upkeep?
Clients like Lume have a list of global relays as well as a list from everyone I follow, so I initially picked from there.
There's nostr.watch but usually i also check some people's relays.
