Violence is a free market trait. It is when we deny that and attempt to outsource our violence to a third party to free our minds of misplaced guilt that we create problems. That is how you get all powerful intermediaries like the state to make both parties less free whether they like it or not. You only shift the violence to someone you no longer control that way.

Personally, I think the world would be much safer if people had to do their own violence themselves rather than outsourcing to violence specialists.
