Muito bom
That's awesome. Just reinstalled it using this method, and set up ntfy for the notifications. Question: Why in the video the installation method is the googleplay option as opposed to the f-droid version? Is one better than the other?
The difference is that play has automated translations and notifications from Google and FDroid doesn't have translations and notifications are for ntfy
Thank you. Can you also help me with the hidden word/sentence option... What does it do? I entered a few words to test it, and I expected a list or something to show up, but there is nothing...?!? Is that here moderation happens? Like if I want to block certain type of content by listing keywords? Also, what exactly are the two checkmark options for? https://image.nostr.build/db9151658cd28e4188d0654178a08f753020f237005f09c178ef5213f36b750c.jpg
Are you using Amber? If so, there might be something wrong with the permissions there, this part needs NIP-44 encryption and decryption from Amber.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is Amber? I don't think I am using since I haven't heard about it, but I want make sure that's the case...
Very interesting. So, what happens when you add a new word and hit add? It should add it to the list.
Literally nothing, but that was on the prior version from the Aurora Store. I haven't tried doing it again after the freash install via Obtanium as I wanted to ask what it does first... So, is that how moderation is handled on Amethyst? Is that how I would exclude certain content that I don't want to see?
Awesome tis video exists, but is Obtanium easier than F-Droid is for normies? Would think Fdroid is easier.
F-droid is as centralized as Google Play. It's just have different overlords for the app catalog. Obtainium is the only real way to download the app from source.
Yes. I got an app merged into F-Droid and then they banned it.
Github is owned by Microsoft. Assuming that most of the apks come from there using Obtainium then there's not much difference
There is... It's one less overlord.
Developers should abandon Github and use a more decentralized kind of platform, or use mirrors with Github (like some GNU/Linux distros do with their packages), otherwise Obtainium will be only a band-aid solution
There is a difference. Microsoft doesn't dictate requirements for software made available through github in the way that Google and F-Droid do for packages distributed through their channels.
"From time to time, GitHub receives requests from governments to remove content that has been declared unlawful in their local jurisdiction. Although we may not always agree with those laws, we may need to block content if we receive a complete request from a government official so that our users in that jurisdiction may continue to have access to GitHub to collaborate and build software." https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/other-site-policies/github-government-takedown-policy
Github is evil
That's pretty much what you'll find with every US organization that abides by the law. But there are many other git alternatives available if you find GitHub's ToS unacceptably restrictive. The main benefit to using GitHub is its 3rd party integrations, and the accompanying functionality.
