Conspiracy theories are a way of blaming the outcome of real and complicated systems on a few people rather than addressing systemic problems. Usually the blame rests with some fundamentally “other” who are made to be both supevillians and not quite human. 

The reality is the while things are messed up, it isn’t some cabal doing it in secret and if they’re only exposed then all the problems will magically disappear.
