 Unstoppable sales of .xmr domains

Just what we need: a .xmr domain tied to a KYC service. What's next?

Is this ridiculous, or am I just being stupid?

I regret buying a few of these myself as they go unused…
It's ridiculous. Monero doesn't support domain names. Ethereum does so you can have a monero.eth name that points to your Monero address (as well as its own Ethereum address). There are other solutions based on other blockchains, maybe a .crypto address or something. No need for a .xmr name that implies it's like the XMR version of a .eth name when XMR doesn't have anything like a .eth name.
is not KYC, you can use a fresh new web3 wallet for payment. And once your get the .xmr web3 domain, which is forever with no yearly payments, you can create an IPFS redirection for people with no monero wallets to pay you I to monero with anon payments like trocador ... it is useful
