i'm looking for someone to make a better favicon for nostr.x0f org #artstr #pixelart this is the starting point (at full resolution): https://media.x0f.org/43b0d4f0b075c0d29ad0aeeff3446d00d8e6c085be7cea9b214aebb6c7786b2a.png the current icon i made with a naive scaling tool: https://nostr.x0f.org/favicon.ico target sizes: 256x256, 64x64, 48x48, 32x32, 16x16 the problem is that the thin border doesn't scale well at lower resolutions, which makes it just a black blob and invisible against a dark background, so this needs manual work to look good let me know if you can do this and are interested (will pay in btc/lightning)
hmm. dark on dark background with thin border doesn't really work too well, if its small you really should consider making a dark version and light version that is single color. for graphic standout. Just my 0.02, on design. I don't think someone editing this will make a big difference unless you make the border a lot thicker for low res and its still not really gonna show up. I always include 4 versions of logos or favicons for press kits. 1 for dark background, 1 for light, 1 greyscale for dark bg, 1 greyscale for light bg. reason being, some publications or sites that use it are gonna require b&w only. check even this site for B&W corporate logos https://demo.lnbits.com/
it needs to be a single icon, there's no functionality anywhere to pick a different icon based on the theme so it should work both on light and dark background, and i don't think there's a way around having a border tbf the original ghost bird design has a a white background but i don't think that helps 😀 : https://media.x0f.org/575280eb3a8c453d181fc24c2a3942abd45bf5b355f445030070a06cf941f240.png
what i end up doing is put this in canva or pixlr and just tweak it. no need to hire someone. you can export into svg or png at whatever scale. (I know i know its a thing we don't want to deal with as devs, but we do lol) this is like what i did for @cloud fodder a few weeks back in canva https://www.canva.com/design/DAGTaJ4Gv4Q/4zQCeydBsY7xe7iy5Wx7ew/edit?utm_content=DAGTaJ4Gv4Q&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton
The other option is to put it in a circle and just leave it with white background for the favicon, like these other logos are circulr and it looks decent. or, if you want the purple to stand out more, like the other favicons here, that's an entirely different design. https://image.nostr.build/ca09e1b441ea2b76bd8497a9a4dfc974277b7e98ff4395af85db24ed5b548488.png
thank you yeah... it's an option, though i don't really like the white circle, and when scaling to the smaller icon sizes (16x16, 32x32) you'll still have the same problem that it's just a black blob but in a white circle... maybe a different design is what i'm looking for then
Design is hard. I would keep It simple and not try to have so much detail. That is key for making a memorable and standout logo at any resolution
i mean it's not a corporate logo or anything, the specific design is kind of important to me so i want to keep that, as much as possible- and oh yeah i know... i've done pixel art in the past (long long ago) and making something at 16x16 or 32x32 is really simplifying, removing details while still evoking them somehow but i don't want to spend a lot of time on that right now, that's why i asked
💡 just do the beak and eye, zoom in and thicken border / more a color than a shape thing?
