i use an optical mouse. it uses a light sensor (i think). only mechanical nice with a physical ball rolling around need a pad and i thought they were pretty much outmoded at this point, but i guess i'm wrong 

 Maybe you like and enjoy that model mouse 

 i do. optical is quicker and more responsive. ideal for gaming, or in my case CAD
