Oddbean new post about login | logout I wish nostr apps had a setting to allow you limit the number of times you see the same user’s posts in your feed per hour/day. Some people post so much that it overwhelms my feed, especially right now with the Venezuela videos and updates. It’s important content, but it drowns everything else out and I wish I could limit/meter those users in my feed without having to mute them entirely.
Like when jack posts literally anything and it’s cool and all but you see nothing else for the next multiple hours?
Lol well that’s more to do with reposts. I’m talking about when the same user posts constantly in a short period of time. Like, it’s cool, and probably interesting stuff, but I don’t want to see 10-20 posts by one user and everyone else gets drowned out.

I just end up muting them, which isn’t ideal. And then inevitably someone complains about my mutes 🤣

Unfollow is another option. And maybe it’s better than mute. I think in amethyst it’s called “block” but the problem is that it also reports that user. I don’t always want to report someone just because I mute them.

Agreed… this is what algorithms do. I’m surprised no mobile apps have made one yet. A marketplace of algorithms is the goal, but I haven’t seen one yet that shuffles the feed on refresh. 😂
Right! Nostur has a setting to temporarily mute someone for x-amount of time and that kind of helps. But I would also like for the client to automatically mute/hide new posts once someone passes some threshold I set. Like, if someone posts more than 10 posts in an hour, hide any additional posts beyond that from my feed.

No that’s a mute setting, although that is helpful. What I’m talking about is a setting that if you post more than 10 times in an hour, for example, then I’ll see those first 10 of your posts but anything more than that will be hidden, and then it would reset the next hour. Or something like that.
Very important, if anything it should just accordion it all.
That would be even better. “10 new posts from this user. Tap here to see them”
