My guess is red bulbs let the brain get its circadian rhythm going.  The candles interest me. Air quality issue maybe?

 Also good for mitochondria. We evolved on a planet around a red giant. 

 I have lots of midgets running around that would knock them over and set the house on fire.

 My cats manage to avoid the candles. Mostly. My boy is so clumsy. He can’t see well.
