it was not until after columbus that tomato, potato, chilli, capsicum came to europe, but corn was already on the continent of eurasia long before this, and there obviously must have been a trading route to bring it at some point - i wonder which way it went then? did the americans get it from eurasia or did the eurasians get it from the americas?

yes there was related, mostly not good food solanacae in europe long before but it's not hard to see that corn is a grass whereas the solanacae are temperate/tropical plants
