Women doing crazy things to be deemed as beautiful has never been a cultural specific behavior. 

I agree. Some beauty standards have changed, but I've noticed that more asian women nowadays make rather heavy use of plastic surgery to make themselves look more European. You haven't noticed this? This is huge with alot of Korean women.
