I just sent this message to Black Press through their corporate contact form here:

If you're in Western Canada why not do the same? :) Feel free to use mine as a template if you'd like.
To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing to congratulate you on your new website design which is much improved and also on embracing your renewed independence now that Facebook and Google have banned news content from their services.
Know this: You, and you alone, as a media organization, should be the source of your information. That is how you build trust. That is how you build your business.
To that end, just because you have stopped using Corporate Social Media doesn't mean there are no options to get your news and journalists connected to people instantly through social media platforms.
Please start using decentralized social media services like Mastodon.
You could create a Black Press Mastodon server today for your publications and employees to use. Or have them sign up to an existing service like Mastodon Canada (mstdn.ca)
It would provide the exact same instant-access that Twitter or Facebook provides.
Decentralized Social Media is new to the general public, but it is growing rapidly and it needs organizations like yours to grow even more, especially locally.
The Tyee and other publications and individual journalists have already started creating a presence.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely
Chris Alemany
