Is it because I think this supports the network, because of some human instinct to reciprocate? or because zaps are public, to not be perceived as cheap or a moocher? Maybe even to be seen as a "big tipper" What is the psychology around this because it seems counter intuitive

I like the feeling of being able to share wealth even though it's not much. It still feels good to spread it around without over exposing my resources to live.

Since money is energy..interaction using Zaps is like sending energy on financial protocol. I get value and I send value back. Sats are valuable if you believe in #bitcoin appreciating down the wire so it's a way stronger display of the attention you gave to the note compared to simple like 👍🏼.

I think of my little zaps as accumulating to the cost of buying someone a drink if we were out together, because all the things said online over the course of months would happen in an hour, in person. Totally separate from tipping for produced content, donating to a cause, or insights that broaden my view.
