I wonder this, being less trained than an astrophysicist.

Both of these things, black holes and dark matter, are related to gravitational fields, which we also don't exactly understand. From what I read, dark matter and black holes are viewed as two independent things that create strong gravitational fields.

Maybe they are two things that are related, tied together in some way. Like the singularity is actually creating the region of distortion we view as dark matter.
